Broadcast Messages is a way that people across MUSC can go to a web page and submit a message of interest to the entire MUSC community. Messages are approved by a moderator and published on a web page.
Every day, the moderator sends batches approved messages in email as well. This is an automatic process -- she just hits a couple of buttons on another web page. This allows the moderator to preview the email message before it is sent. The email message contains the "headline" and a link to each individual broadcast.
Messages are grouped by category. Each category, as well as the entire project, has an RSS feed so you can receive these messages in your favorite aggregator like Bloglines or Newsfeeder.
Broadcast Messages uses mySiteMaker for the moderator's admin interface, plus a few custom scripts to display messages, send email, produce RSS feeds. Adding a new message is also done using mySiteMaker. (Technically, there are two mySites for Broadcast.)
